Thanksgiving Traditions Through the years with Carol Ann Moritz

Date:

November 20, 2026

Time:

2:00 pm

Summary:

Over the past 125 years, Thanksgiving traditions have evolved significantly. In the late 1800s, families often celebrated with simple home-cooked meals and community gatherings.

Today, while sharing a meal with loved ones remains the heart of the holiday, modern traditions also include watching football, traveling, volunteering, and enjoying televised events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

We also have the added invasion of Black Friday and all that it entails. These changes reflect shifts in American culture while preserving the holiday’s enduring focus on gratitude and togetherness.

Free with your membership or museum admission.
