Before the World Knew Their Names, Daytona Beach Knew Their Music

Long before sold-out arenas, platinum albums, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Duane and Gregg Allman were discovering their sound in Daytona Beach. They attended Seabreeze High School, performed on local stages, and forged the friendships that helped shape one of the most influential bands in American music.

Today, communities across the country celebrate the Allman Brothers’ legacy. Yet the city where their remarkable journey began has never had a permanent place to tell that story.

For the first time, Daytona Beach has the opportunity to change that.

This Project

A coalition of community leaders has commissioned internationally acclaimed sculptor Nilda Comas to create a life-size bronze monument honoring Duane and Gregg Allman in Daytona Beach.

More than a work of art, the monument will become a permanent public landmark on the Boardwalk that celebrates the brothers’ extraordinary legacy while recognizing Daytona Beach as the place where it all began.
